Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is becoming a leading European city in contemporary arts and culture, a potential that started taking shape in the last decade. In 2013, Art Cities of the Future by Phaidon placed Cluj-Napoca among the top world cities with strong cultural climate and milieu to reshape local ecosystem. We are working with government, start-ups and NGOs to effectively place youth wellness at the center of the city’s civic transformation. Building on our approach to process evaluation spelled out in our recent book, Meaningful Inefficiencies (Oxford Press), we are helping to bring participatory values into the city’s innovation ecosystem.
